Carlos Urrego and Sara Rengifo are the heart of UR Tango. Based in the Sarasota, Florida area, UR Tango is dedicated to sharing the art of Argentine Tango and building a welcoming, connected tango community. As Argentine Tango champions, performers, and instructors, Carlos and Sara bring passion, authenticity, and connection to everything they teach. From beginners taking their first steps to intermediate and advanced dancers, their approach focuses on helping each student discover the beauty of connection, musicality, and expression through tango. UR Tango offers group and private lessons, specialized tango programs for Parkinson’s and older adults, competition coaching, performances, and custom choreography for weddings, quinceañeras, birthdays, and other special occasions. For Carlos and Sara, tango is more than a dance. It is a language of trust, connection, and emotion — turning every movement into a shared story.
Carlos Urrego
Carlos Urrego is a Colombian Argentine tango champion, professional dancer, instructor, and choreographer with over 25 years of experience. At the Southern California Tango Championship & Festival, he won all four categories—Tango de Pista, Milonga, Vals, and Stage Tango—in 2016, followed by three championship titles in 2025. He has represented Colombia and the United States at the World Tango Championship in Buenos Aires and performed with renowned orchestras, including Sexteto Mayor. An accomplished teacher, author, and event organizer, Carlos shares his passion for tango through technique, musicality, improvisation, and authentic connection.
Sara Rengifo
Sara Rengifo is a Colombian Argentine tango dancer, instructor, and performer based in Sarasota, Florida. Her artistic journey includes international competitions, festivals, and performances, with achievements in Tango de Pista, Milonga, and Vals. Passionate about teaching, Sara works with dancers of all levels, from beginners to advanced students, including specialized programs and performance training. Her teaching emphasizes musicality, technique, confidence, and authentic connection. With a background in communication and journalism, she brings creativity, sensitivity, and a personal approach to every class, inspiring students to discover the beauty and expression of Argentine tango.
